About Me
About Coach Laura L Vinger
Like many people, my path to where I am wasn’t exactly the most linear route. I grew up in a small town and got my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, so that I could coach and educate people in the most typical way–as a teacher. All the while working on the side with clients as a personal trainer and life/nutrition coach.
I’ve been fortunate to study and be mentored in my health and fitness journey by incredible coaches and health professionals. My certifications include: FNMS Specialist (Functional Nutrition and Metabolism Science Specialization), HMCC Coach (Health Mindset Coach), CrossfitL2, RYT200 Yoga, ACE personal trainer, Cognitive Coaching, Oracle Applied Science, ETP Nutrition Coach, and Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Over the years, I have also become certified to teach group fitness, yoga, nutrition coaching, health coaching, Crossfit L2, spin, and step classes. I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including large fitness companies, health coaching companies, small businesses, and boutique specialty training facilities before I finally founded my own nutrition and health coaching company.
My Journey
I learned to listen to my body and love it...
My relationship with diet and exercise hasn’t always been an easy one. My own health journey started when I was just a kid. Being a bit chunkier than my siblings, I felt uncomfortable in my own body. As a tomboy, I spent most of my days outside playing; however, I couldn’t climb a tree or run very far or fast. I knew that because I was fat, I wasn’t good enough and would never be.
Fast forward through years of teasing at school with few friends and little self-esteem, to the age of 13 when I got braces (and glasses). During the 2 years I had those braces, eating was usually painful. So, I avoided it and lost weight. The braces came off, contacts replaced glasses, and I started to use a mini-trampoline in the garage for at least an hour per day to lose more weight. My dad gave me the gift of a gym membership when I was 16, and the weight kept coming off. The more attention I got for losing weight, the more weight I wanted to lose. This soon became my identity.
As the years went on, and I moved out on my own and ate just enough. And I worked out even more. My goal each day was to be in a calorie deficit. For example, I ate about 1000 calories per day, so that meant I had to burn off at least 1000 calories each day to be in the negative. I thought that’s how I would keep my weight down. I didn’t know any better. I was reading all the articles the “experts” were writing and following their suggestions
After years of over-exercising and under-eating while feeling anxious, depressed, and self-conscious, I found an eating disorder specialist was diagnosed with anorexia and bulimia. I finally knew what was happening with me. I realized that I had bought into all the mis-information about how to truly be healthy. Like many women from an early age I had bought into the thinking that I needed to eat less, do more, and be skinny no matter what, because being skinny is what matters most.
I started to nourish my body with foods I like and that are good for me. I stopped over-training and found what worked for me. I learned to listen to my body and love it for what it can do for me, not for how it looks to other people.

My Goals
After living a life of trial and error in terms of my own health and wellness and having no credible source to guide me in a better direction, I now spend my life working with my clients to build new health habits that will actually bring them closer to their goals. Through a specific process of meeting them where they are, educating them about how their body works, and making small changes over time, we work together to maximize their daily choices that fit their lifestyle in order to optimize their health and body composition.
